Whether you're relocating for work, staying near a hospital, or basing yourself in Brisbane for a few weeks, the right neighbourhood makes all the difference. Here's our local guide to the inner-city suburbs we know best, and who they suit.

Why location matters for longer stays

A hotel room for two nights is forgiving. A serviced apartment for two months is not. Distance to your workplace, hospital, or client site compounds every day, and the character of the street outside your door shapes how restful the stay actually feels. Brisbane's inner-city suburbs each have a distinct personality. The guide below matches them to the guests we host most often.

Brisbane CBD

Best for: Business travellers, conference delegates, corporate relocations.

The commercial heart of Queensland. Walking distance to Queen Street Mall, Eagle Street Pier, and every major bank, law firm, and consulting HQ. Central Station and the ferry terminals put the rest of Brisbane within 15 minutes.

Close by

  • Queen Street Mall & Eagle Street Pier
  • Brisbane Magistrates & Supreme Courts
  • Wickham Terrace medical precinct
  • Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (via cross-river bridges)

Spring Hill

Best for: Medical staff, patients, and visiting families.

Immediately north of the CBD and home to Brisbane's private hospital precinct. Quieter and leafier than the CBD, with easy walking access to appointments and the Central Station rail line.

Close by

  • St Andrew's War Memorial Hospital
  • Brisbane Private Hospital
  • St Vincent's Private Hospital Northside (short drive)
  • Wickham Terrace specialists

Fortitude Valley

Best for: Creatives, remote workers, longer-stay guests who want energy on the doorstep.

Brisbane's dining, live music, and boutique retail hub. James Street and the Emporium precinct pair well with easy CBD access via the Valley station and free CityHopper ferries.

  • Howard Smith Wharves
  • RNA Showgrounds

South Brisbane & West End

Best for: Families, patients at children's & women's hospitals, cultural visitors.

Across the river from the CBD, walking distance to South Bank parklands, the Cultural Centre, and Queensland's flagship children's hospital. Cafes, farmers markets, and riverside walks make longer stays comfortable.

  • South Bank Parklands & QPAC
  • Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA)

Kangaroo Point & New Farm

Best for: Extended stays, relocators, remote professionals.

Riverside living with quick CityCat access to the CBD. New Farm's Powerhouse and Merthyr Village bring restaurant density; Kangaroo Point Cliffs and the Story Bridge define the skyline.

Herston & Bowen Hills

Best for: Medical professionals, locums, patients at RBWH.

Adjacent to Queensland's largest hospital campus. Direct rail into the CBD in under 10 minutes, with quieter residential streets ideal for mid-term stays during treatment or placement.
